Special Events

Outreach:

The South Texas Herpetology Association participates in numerous outreach programs year around. Along with our annual displays, we give informative talks and display snakes for other groups such as Girlscouts and Boyscouts, schools, military bases, etc. These talks are free of charge, as they are our way of informing the public about the so often mistifying world of reptiles. Our talks cover local snakes, which ones to avoid and which ones to keep around. Hopefully our educational displays will help to destigmatize our wonderful native herpetofauna.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo:

The South Texas Herpetology Association hosts a display at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo featuring the Snakes of Texas and perodical informative talks on the subject. Our goal for this 10 day period is to help educate the 1000's of people, including many school children, about our local snakes, which ones to avoid and which ones to keep around. Hopefully our educational displays will help to destigmatize our wonderful native herpetofauna.

This year the display will be held in the Texas Wildlife Expo tent from Febuary 9-26, 2012. See below for photos of past years.
